ZseZse  (aka Rev. Dr. Carol L. Lawrence)

Creator/Host of jazz Divine

The voice on the Internet against Domestic Violence and Teen Dating Violence
A dynamic Christian communicator, best known for her eclectic approach and distinctive gift of discovering contemporary insights in the Biblical stories while maintaining the integrity of the Biblical text, Dr. Lawrence finds her primary spiritual gift of teaching to be the substance and essence of all her ministry endeavors.

Ordained in 1985; formerly an Elder in Full Connection in the United Methodist Church, Dr. Lawrence is currently ordained in the American Baptist Church.

Her teaching ministry on terrestrial radio began in '87 on  local stations in PA, DE and NJ with 15 minute segments called "Abiding in the Vine." In 2000 she renamed the broadcast "Conversations in the Word," changed to a half hour interactive format with guests in the studio. In 2008, with a clear vision and  a passion for those outside the walls of the church, ZseZse combined Conversations in the Word with Gospel Jazz. It was born of her passionate love for music, the Word of God and commitment to create a "God space" for those who don't find their place in the local church and for whom organized religion is difficult to embrace, yet still have a desire for a spiritual relationship with God and others of like mind.

As founder of the Empowerment Development Network, the self described "12 year corporate America survivor," combines management experience with 25 years of church leadership, providing leadership training that equips, and empowers leaders with principles, resources and skills which govern personal and organizational effectiveness.  As convener of Empowerment Gatherings, she facilitates retreat events uniquely designed for spiritual, personal & professional growth and networking.

Faith without works is a dead faith:
The legacy of her grandmother as a victim/survivor of domestic violence is the passion in her commitment to her work in raising awareness of the intolerable acts of violence against women and teen dating violence.

"My mother kept the story alive so that my grandmother's story would never be my story.  I keep the story alive so that it will never be my daughter's story.  I'll keep the story alive so that her story won't be your story."

You don't have to be a victim or an abuser to be actively involved in this mission; just someone who cares.
